Where to start...

Should I start with explaining what Nurse Lily is all about? Since I'm not yet a nurse and my name is Donya? Or that I'm likely going through a divorce in less than a week? What this last year of pure HELL has been like? (Nursing school + marital problems + money problems = Satan's 3-ring circus, just fyi. I didn't even use dimensional analysis for that one!) Or that to soothe my wounded and very broken heart, I have set a new goal (new goals make me sooooooooo happy because I can PLAN!!)? Actually, RE-set would be more accurate. I was supposed to eventually hike the Appalachian Trail with the love-of-my-life-soon-to-be-ex-husband but what the hell? If I know anything about myself, it's that I can do whatever I commit to. Graduating nursing school at 46 in 4 months is pretty sufficient evidence, though I have a long history of commitment (should have been LITERAL "commitment" in some cases) behind me. Alas, those are stories for another day. And then a mini-goal: this nursing/hiking blog. So, in the words of an old SNL episode: "Here are your topics. Discuss amongst yourselves."  I'll address one at a time so as not to overwhelm. Nurse Lily: Well, I'm almost nurse...pending any broken limbs or hospitalizations in the next four months (where is wood and/or salt when you need it?). So that's the nurse part. Lily is to remind me to "consider the lilies", which believe me, I have had to do my fair share of this year...and the two before that. Certainly if a beautiful flower like a lily can grow despite it's outer weathering, I can too. Fortunately I have had a wonderful long break in Wisconsin with my parents, sister and her 3 rugrats whom I adore. It's helped me remember who I am, hence the new goals. But seriously, divorce sucks ass. That's all for today.
